Seal structure characteristics of Roots blowers

Roots BlowerUsually, there are three types of shaft end seals: gland type, skeleton type and mechanical seal.

1. Gland type. This is a simple structure, the more commonly used form of sealing, mostly used for conveying air. And the cylinder connected to the part of a total of four gland type sealing, in the gland packing box into several rings of asbestos oil packing, in order to reduce the axial length, the design of the seal are considered close to the bearing. During operation, the bolts around the gland can be tightened regularly to keep the gas from leaking out.

2、Skeleton type. Skeleton seal is generally skeleton rubber oil seal, each set of seals by two or three J-shaped skeleton rubber oil seals, two of which are installed back-to-back in contact with the conveying medium on the inside, the other side is installed in the outside, the middle can be injected into the lubricating grease. The whole sealing parts are installed in a sealing jacket to form a component. The structure of the sealing effect is good, can be used for high speed blower.

3、Mechanical seal. For conveying special media blower (such as conveying media flammable, explosive, highly corrosive, toxic, harmful), then the shaft seal structure using mechanical seals. Mechanical seal has reliable sealing performance, small leakage, long service life, power loss, do not need frequent maintenance and other advantages, and can meet the production automation and high temperature, low temperature, high pressure, high vacuum, high speed and a variety of flammable, explosive, corrosive media sealing requirements.
