Installation and inspection of piping equipment for Roots fans

  1. Basic requirements for piping installation
  • Piping should start at the blower inlet and exhaust port flanges to avoid abnormal loading.
  • When installing the check valve, remove the factory-fitted fixing bracket so that the rotating pivot of the valve piece is horizontal, and pay special attention to the direction of flow of the medium.
  • Corrugated expansion joints also have directional requirements due to their construction and shall not be installed in reverse. After installation, the tie rods should be removed.
  • When installing the gate valve on a horizontal pipeline, the lever should be vertically upward (or cut upward at a certain angle). If the installation position is too high, a chain rotation handwheel can be installed for remote operation.
  • When installing a lever-type safety valve, the centerline of the valve disc should be perpendicular to the horizontal plane.
  • So the flange joint, should ensure that the two flange surface parallel to each other, concentric, and in the combination of surface between the sealing gasket.
  • Piping and piping equipment must be supported and no weight must be applied to the blower housing as this may cause deformation of the housing.
  • Pressure gauges, vacuum gauges and other display instruments should be installed as far away from the blower as possible (except for vibration-resistant instruments) to avoid vibration failure.
  1. Pipeline leakage pickup and slag blowing

After the piping is installed, the system should be inspected for tightness and any residual weld slag in the piping should be blown out.

  • Picking up the slack. The blower has a wide range of uses, and various systems have different requirements for airtightness. Generally, when conveying air, the requirements for airtightness are not very strict, and the pressure provided by the blower itself is utilized for inspection after driving, and there should be no obvious air leakage. When conveying other gases, especially when conveying flammable, explosive or toxic gases, it is necessary to make a special air pressure test or water pressure test under higher pressure to carry out a strict airtightness check.

The blower shall not be involved in the pressure test when the water pressure test is performed. Otherwise, water will enter into the casing or the main and secondary tanks, which will cause the internal parts to be immersed and rusted. In addition, the defects on the pipeline shall not be repaired or welded during the pressure test.

  • Pipe blowing. Before the test run, the blower should not be too high, generally not more than 300kPa. blowing out process, the hammer can be used to knock the pipeline and welds, is debris stripped blown into the wire mesh bag located at the end of the pipeline.
